John Roland Strohm, 81, of Katy, Texas, formerly of Aspinwall, died Friday, June 23, 2006, in a Katy hospital. He was born June 22, 1925, in Pittsburgh to John and Elizabeth Rambo Strohm and was a World War II Marine Corps veteran who fought on Iwo Jima. John lived in the Katy area for 23 years and was an active member of Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church, Katy, and chairman of the Texas/Oklahoma District of the Kiwanis International Foundation. He also was a member of the Cy-Fair Club, which he served as president and secretary/treasurer; treasurer of the Ashland Oil Retiree Club, and a board member of the Salvation Army. Husband of 55 years of Mary Jane Strohm, whom he married Sept. 22, 1950, in Pittsburgh. Father of Donna and Scott Wittich, of Columbus, Ohio; Barbara David, Jackie and Robbie Brooks and John Dyer and Alice Strohm, of Katy, and Carolyn and Gregory Hale, of Phoenix, Ariz. Brother of William Strohm, of Vandergrift. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and other loving family members. Visitation was Monday in Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. Mass was Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Msgr. Jack M. Dinkins as celebrant. Additional visitation will be from 11 a.m. until a noon committal service Saturday at KYPER FUNERAL HOME, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd., Shaler, with the Rev. John Gudewicz officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Royal Cemetery, Shaler. Texas arrangements by the SCHMIDT FUNERAL HOME, Katy.
