Rosko Sr. , John
John A. Rosko Sr., 80, of Latrobe, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Snydertown, son of the late Stephan and Elizabeth Adams Rosko.
He was retired from Latrobe Die Casting with 45 years of service as a plant manager. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army on the USS Teton AGC14.
He was a very active member of St. Vincent Basilica, he was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 940, and a lifetime member of the B.P.O. Elks 907 and its golf lodge, American Legion Post 982 in Unity Township and VFW Post 3414 in Latrobe.
Besides John's family and friends, his greatest enjoyment in life was golfing and helping others with repairs in their homes. He was also a diehard Steelers fan.
He is survived by a son, John A. Jr. and wife Kathy, Latrobe; a daughter, Donna Rosko Salkin and husband Alan, Jenkintown; five sisters, Mary Rodgers, Katherine "Kutch" Camaione, Marti Zoppetti, Wayne Watkins and husband, Joseph, and Jeanie Dominick and husband, Richard, all of Latrobe; four grandchildren; a dear friend and companion, Patricia Hess, Latrobe; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth C. "Betty" Halula Rosko; two brothers, Steve Jr. and Martin; and five sisters, Ann Carle, Helen Sabolik, Theresa "Dolly" Batsa, Margaret "Marge" Roble and Betty Koliska.
A funeral Mass was held Wednesday in St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe, with the Rev. Gilbert Burke, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment was in St. Vincent Cemetery with graveside military services accorded by American Legion Post 982 of Unity Township.
