Colosimo , Anthony J. 90

Anthony J. "Tony" Colosimo, 90, of Bentleyville, formerly of Roscoe, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born Oct. 17, 1916, in Charleroi, a son of the late Ralph and Catherine Qualpierie Colosimo. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant in 1974 with 44 years of service. Mr. Colosimo was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with Battery B, 437th Anti Aircraft Artillery, Automatic Weapons Battalion involved in campaigns in Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno and Southern France. For his service, he was awarded the American Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, American Theater Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. His services extended from 1939 to 1945. He was a member of Charleroi American Legion Post 22 and a past Commander and Adjutant of Charleroi VFW Post 167. Mr. Colosimo was a former member of the Stockdale VFD and a current honorary member of the Cokeburg VFD and the Washington County Fireman's Association. An avid bowler, he was a league member at Tan-O-Bell Lanes in Bentleyville and Lynnwood Lanes in Belle Vernon. Mr. Colosimo was a 50-year member of the Roscoe Lions Club, serving as secretary for 30 years, president for five years, vice president for three years, tail twister for two years, as well as serving on numerous committees. He was a member of Ave Maria Parish in Bentleyville and a former member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Roscoe. Surviving is his very good friend, Ida Zoldak, of Cokeburg; one sister, Eleanor Colosimo, of Charleroi; one brother, Joseph Colosimo, of West Newton; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his parents, is his wife, Eleanor Scalise Colosimo, who died June 24, 1985; one daughter, Catherine B. Colosimo, who died Jan. 31, 1990; three sisters, Mary Bradley, Jennie Cirusso and Wilhelmina Dempsey; and three brothers, Samuel A., Louis J. and Leonard Colosimo. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 619 Main St., Bentleyville, where prayers will be said at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Ave Maria Church in Bentleyville with the Rev. Edwin J. Wichman as celebrant. Interment will be in Monongahela Cemetery. On Tuesday, the Roscoe Lions Club will conduct a service at 7 p.m., and Charleroi American Legion Post 22 will hold a Eulogy Service at 8 p.m. in the funeral home and will accord Military Rites graveside.
