Schiberl , Otto N. 68
Otto Ned Schiberl, 68, of Emlenton, Pa., passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at his residence, following an extended illness. Born May 31, 1938, in Creighton, he was the son of the late Otto Oden and Agnes (Yappel) Schiberl. Otto was baptized Catholic by faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving most of his duty in Alaska. He was employed for many years as a traveling manager for the former Thorofare Super Markets in Pennsylvania. In 1968, he and his late wife, Thelma, purchased the former Red's Bar in Emlenton, changing the name to Otto's Tavern. Following their retirement, the ownership continues today under the same name and is solely operated by the Schiberl family. Otto also enjoyed operating a logging and excavating business for many years. He also found the time to fish and hunt in the local area as a hobby. He was a member of the V.F.W. and Moose Lodge in Astor, Fla., and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Franklin, Pa. Surviving are a daughter, Holly Schiberl-Ielase and husband, Kevin, of Emlenton; three sons, Otto "Buster" Schiberl and companion, Vicki Whitmer, Melvin "Buddy" Schiberl and Darryl Schiberl, all of Emlenton; nine grandchildren, Meah and Izabela Ielase, Kelly Negron, Sara Doran, Casey Kiter, Presley, Ashley, Colton, and Asia Schiberl; two sisters, Dolores (Joe) Gotto, of Beaver Falls, and Agnes (Bob) Budge, of Florida; also a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Pritts) Schiberl, whom he married Feb. 20, 1960, and who passed away Feb. 11, 2002; one son, Brion Schiberl, in 2002, and one grandson, Zachery Schiberl. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at H. JACK BUZARD DUNERAL HOME, Main Street Route 38, Eau Claire, Pa. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Mr. Joe Gotto, Otto's brother-in-law, officiating. Interment in Emlenton Cemetery.
