Williams Sr. , Rufus 90
Rufus Williams Jr., 90, of Donora, was called home to glory on Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, in the HCR Manor Care Center. He was born Nov. 3, 1916, in Macon, Ga., a son of the late Mabel and Rufus Williams Sr. He was retired from the Duquesne Mill. Even after retirement, Rufus went on to work for Kennywood Park for an additional 12 years. He was an active and faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Donora, where he served the Lord throughout his life. His faith in God was strong and steadfast. All who knew and loved him knew the church was first in his heart. Rufus also served as the shotgun rider on the Van Ministry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Williams, and a brother, Paul Williams. He is survived by his devoted companion and friend, Eloise McDowell, of Charleroi; extended family members, Woodrow Jones and wife, Iva, and children, Aaron, Michael and Erica Jones, of Long Branch, and Michael McDowell and wife, Renee, and daughter, Jordan, of Donora; his church family at St. Paul Baptist Church in Donora; and a host of friends, all of whom will cherish his memory and miss him dearly. Friends will be received Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in St. Paul Baptist Church, South McKean Avenue, Donora, where funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis T. Garner officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. Arrangements have been gently placed in the hands of the HOUSE of JACKSON MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1324 Meldon Ave., Donora, Pa.
