Beverly J. Hackel, 70, of Latrobe, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at her home. She was born Aug. 29, 1937, in New Albany, Ind., a daughter of Gwendolyn (Vanderhoff) Thomas and the late Malcolm Leo Thomas. Prior to retirement, she had been employed by West Real Estate and Merrill Lynch for 10 years and by Laurel Design for six years. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg, and was a 1957 graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ross A. Hackel; two daughters, Regina "Ricky" Hackel, of Greensburg, and Virginia Hackel Ybarra and her husband, Roland Rene, of Ballwin, Mo.; two sons, Robert A. Hackel and his wife, Danielle Marie, of Gibsonia, and David R. Hackel, of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Samantha Renee and Jonathan Quinn Ybarra and Mackenzie Kate and Amelia Jane Hackel; two sisters, Lee Ensign, of Lakewood, Ohio, and Terry Chopp, of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; three brothers, Richard Thomas, of Pataskala, Ohio, John Thomas, of Sullivan, Ohio, and Michael Thomas, of Newton, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg. Prayers at 9 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Greensburg, with the Rev. Msgr. Raymond E. Riffle as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Hempfield Township.
