Kaus , Joseph 89

New Kensington, Formerly of Oakmont

Joseph Kaus, 89, of New Kensington, formerly of Oakmont, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 3, 1920, in Germany, to the late Anton and Theresa Flais Kaus. Joe retired from the former Edgewater Steel in Oakmont as a steel roller with 42 years of service. Mr. Kaus attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Kensington. He was a member of Verona Eagles, Acme Club in Acmetonia, Rambles SNPJ Lodge 713, VFW and American Legion, both in Lower Burrell. Joe graduated from Oakmont High School. He was the beloved companion and sweetheart of Dorothy E. Matta, of New Kensington, for 30 years. He was the father of the late Larry and Ronald Kaus; and brother of the late Anton Kaus. Joe is survived by two nephews and one niece. He is also survived by Dorothy's daughter, Susan H. Matta, of Leechburg. Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC., 421 Allegheny Ave., Oakmont. Parting prayers at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Kensington, with Father Alan Grote officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
