David W. Baker Jr., 78, of Blairsville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, in Mountain View Specialty Care, Greensburg. A son of David W. Baker Sr. and C. Kathryn (Nuner) Baker, he was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Blairsville. He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1948, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Baker worked for Westinghouse Specialty Metals for 39 years, retiring in 1994. Surviving are three sons, Daniel B., David R., and Darrin J. and wife Tricia, all of Blairsville; a daughter, Darcy Borbonus and husband David, Blairsville; nine grandchildren, Shelby Stumpf, Greg Gruda, Justin Borbonus, Dana Baker, Matthew Baker, Alex Baker, Andrew Baker, Austin Baker and David Baker; a great-grandson; a brother, Joseph “Phip” and wife Mary, Derry; and three sisters, Myrtle McLaughlin, Clarksburg, Jane Curnow and husband Frank, Blairsville, and Flora Fordyce and husband Don, Latrobe. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley Ann (Jasper) Baker, on June 23, 2008; and a sister, Annabelle Lukcik, in 1999. Friends were received at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., Blairsville. A prayer service was held Wednesday in the funeral home with Father Chester J. Raimer officiating. Interment was in S.S.
