John I. Palmer III, 47, formerly of Indiana and Blairsville, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 at Fairmont General Hospital, Fairmont, W.Va. He was born Jan. 14, 1962 in Indiana, the son of John I. and Thelma (Lambing) Palmer Jr., of Blairsville. John was of the Methodist Faith. He had worked for Consol Energy at Leverdge Mine, W.Va. He was a member of the United Mine Workers. He was a graduate of Blairsville High School Class of 1979. John loved golfing. He also played softball for his church league. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. John was very proud of his daughters. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his parents; three daughters, Chelsea, Rebecca and Amanda Palmer, all whom are attending IUP, brother, Mark and wife Kim, Blairsville; sister, Robin Livingston and husband Stacy, Blairsville; very special friend, Linda Pruett, Robinson; ex-wife, Lisa Palmer, Indiana; nieces and nephews, Nichole, Mackenzie and Cameron Livingston, and Justin and Lucas Palmer; friend, Tammy Pruett and her children, Skylar, Donaven and Eric; and also many cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Glenn and Carrie Lambing; and paternal grandparents, John I. and Bessie Palmer. Friends were received at the James F. Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville, where funeral services were held Sunday with Rev. Scot Pifer officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Blairsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Palmer Scholarship Fund, for Johnís daughters, to S&T Bank, P.O. Box 220, 800 Philadelphia St., Wealth Management Dept., Indiana, Pa. 15701.
