Paul W. Graff, 94, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010. He was born June 3, 1916, to the late Wilbur Paul and Laura Rugg Graff, of Blairsville. Before moving to Naples, Fla. in 1976, he lived in Indiana, and summered in Eagles Mere. Paul graduated from The Kiski School, earned a B.A. from Amherst College in 1938, and a B.S. in mining engineering from Penn State in 1949. He worked as a trust officer at the Blairsville Savings & Trust Co. and became president of Westmorland Mining Co. in 1939. He was founder and president of Graff Engineering Co., and founder and president of North American Gear. He was later a consultant and property manager for Barnes and Tucker Coal Co. His directorships included the Peoples Bank of Blairsville, Cochran Coal Co. and Braeburn Steel. He was a devoted trustee of the Presbyterian Church in Eagles Mere, an elder of Graystone Presbyterian Church in Indiana, and a member of Moorings Presbyterian Church in Naples. He served as president and director of the Eagles Mere Association. He was a member of the country clubs of Indiana, Eagles Mere, Royal Poinciana Golf Club of Naples and the Duquesne Club of Pittsburgh. He was an enthusiastic tennis player into his 80s. He loved music and was an accomplished saxophone and clarinet player. Throughout his life, he touched those around him with his optimistic nature, quiet wit and good will. He is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Virginia Walker Graff; and children, David (Maritza), Elizabeth and Thomas (Barbara); grandchildren, Brian (Daniella), Kristina Graff (Joey Collins), Jessica and Darren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeane. Memorials may be directed to the Neighborhood Health Clinic, 120 Goodlette Rd.
