Edward Raymond Riley, 73, of Washington Township, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, in Life Care Hospital at Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights. Born Feb. 14, 1938, in Parks Township, to the late Raymond and Catherine (McDonald) Riley, Edward lived in Vandergrift and Washington Township for most of his life. He was employed as a metallurgical technician for Wean United in Vandergrift for 28 years and Irwin Automation Inc., in Greensburg for 27 years until his retirement. Edward was also a member of the Army. He belonged to St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church in Vandergrift, Elks Lodge in Leechburg, VFW Post 92 and the Eagles in Lower Burrell and the Forty-Niners Club in Greensburg. He was a graduate of Vandergrift High School, class of 1956, and attended the University of Pittsburgh for two years. Mr. Riley enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid gardener and he took great pride in his vegetable garden and flower gardens. He was generous with providing friends and family with produce. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Rosalind P. (Palatella) Riley, of Washington Township; one sister, Aniceta McKelligott, of Satellite Beach, Fla.; one brother, Dr. John M. (Ruby) Riley, of Frostburg, Md.; nieces and nephews, AnnaMarie Palatella of Greensburg, Kathleen (Kevin) Rimmel, of Lower Burrell, John (Paula) Palatella, of Sykesville, Md., Dianna (Josh) Slingluff, of Greensburg, Susan McKelligott, of Florida, Kelli (Judy) McKelligott, of Florida, Kathy and Cindy McKelligott, both of North Carolina, Michael McKelligott, of Florida, and John (Catherine) Riley, of Maryland; and great-nieces and -nephews, Kirsten, Juliana and Anthony Palatella, Angelina and Nicole Slingluff, Matthew Rimmel and Jack Henry Riley. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the BRADY-CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 429 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, PA 15690. A con-celebrated funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift. Everyone meet at the church. Entombment in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum in Lower Burrell, where full military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Honor Guard.
