Ernest T. "Ted" Rugg Jr., 70, of Connellsville, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in Uniontown Hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1940, in Mill Run, a son of the late Ernest and Helen (Burnsworth) Rugg. Ted was a member of the Church of the Open Door. He served in the Marine Corps. Reserves from 1958 to 1966. He worked for Eureka Fire Brick Works in Mt. Braddock, then Seese Plumbing and Heating in South Connellsville and 17 years for Anchor Hocking as a tow motor operator. Ted loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice Y. Rugg, (Ted and Janice renewed their wedding vows in 2009); three sons, Mark A. Rugg, of Connellsville, Todd M. Rugg and fiancee, Kris Anne Younkin, of Connellsville, and Timothy W. Rugg and wife, Karin, of Uniontown; a daughter, Darla R. Knight and friend, Steve Hall, of Dawson; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Clyde Rugg and wife, Lee, of Wisconsin, John Rugg and wife, Connie, Graydon Rugg, all of Mill Run, Charles Rugg and wife, Rosemary, of Connellsville, and Ralph Rugg and wife, Melinda, of Hopwood; sisters, Cora Williams and husband, Hoover, of New Alexandria, Florence Williams and husband, Ed, of Mill Run, and Marlene Bente and husband, John, of Connellsville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ted was predeceased by an infant daughter, Helen Yvonne Rugg; sister, Rebecca J. Miller and her husband, Eugene; a brother-in-law, Don Clawson; sister-in-law, Susan Rugg; and grandparents, Clyde and Myrtle Burnsworth and Curtis and Amanda Rugg. Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday and until 11 a.m. Saturday, the hour of service, in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 S. First St., West Side, Connellsville, 724-628-9033, with Rev. Donald Bowser officiating. Following the service, full military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by members of the American Legion Post 301, VFW Post 21 and 762. Interment will be private.
