Alberta "Jean" (Spang) Clark, of North Apollo, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at the Armstrong County Health Center in Kittanning. She was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Vandergrift, the daughter of the late Jacob Victor and Flora Mae (Bish) Spang. While still living in the North Apollo area, Mrs. Clark was a member of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oklahoma Borough. Her family was of most importance to her: two daughters, Sandra J. Clawson, of Vandergrift, and Deborah K. (Randy) Saxion, of Ford City; four grandchildren, James (Kathy) Clawson, of Newark, Del., Jennifer (Ed) Tumas, of Vandergrift, Jeffrey (Karen) Saxion, of Ford City, and Michael (Jennifer) Saxion, of Strongstown; nine great-grandchildren, Erin Tumas, Taylor Saxion, Alicia Saxion, Helene Saxion, Aiyana Saxion, Bobbi Vacula, Vaugh (Lisa) Norbert, Shaun Norbert and Tiffany (Bret) Unger; and two great-great-grandchildren, Carson and Kylie Unger. She will be deeply missed by her family. Jean enjoyed fishing in Canada and camping (in the Tionesta area) with her husband, Tom, and will always be lovingly remembered by her daughters for her continuous care and concern and as having made the absolute best french fries and spaghetti sauce. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Jean leaves behind four sisters, Betty Favero, Eleanor Kelly, Grace Mansfield and Wanda Bulkowski; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Clark, whom she married July 29, 1944, and who died Jan. 3, 2001; an infant son, Thomas E. Clark Jr.; brothers, Earl Spang, Dale Spang and Jacob Spang; and sisters, Vera Coburn and Helen Thompson. Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. until noon Friday at the KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME LTD., 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo, at which time services will be held in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charles D. Whipple officiating.
