Richard F.T. Walck, 73, of West Deer Township, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at UPMC Shadyside. Born May 8, 1938, in Lower Towamensing Township, he was the son of the late James E. and Gertrude C. (Derr) Walck. Following high school, Dick enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War, where he served for more than 20 years, retiring as a first sergeant and an Army Engineer. Dick then went to work at the Post Office, working at the Bulk Mail Center in Warrendale, for more than 18 years. He was a member of Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, Russellton and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his sons, Richard R. (Chystral) Walck Jr. and Christopher (Shelly) Walck, both of West Deer; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, James E. (Mary Lou) Walck Jr., John (Barbara) Walck, Roy (Denise) Walck and Allen (Jackie) Walck; sisters, Gertrude Kulp, Betty Walck, Faith Green, Hope (Jerry) Muffley, Charity Walck, Gail (Robert) Buck, Annette (Gary) Muffley, Wanda (Ronald) Neff and Sharon (Noel) Zellner, all of Carbon County. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Bishop) Walck; and his brother, Robert Walck. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township, where the funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev.
