Dorothy M. Trunzo, 89, of New Eagle, died Monday, March 5, 2012, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born Feb. 27, 1923, in Homestead, she was the daughter of the late Mark and Carrie (Conlin) Schreiner. Dorothy was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always was devoted to her family; even late in life she was a hard worker who always kept her home in perfect shape. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is survived by her husband, Eugene A. Trunzo, with whom she would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this August; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Howard Johnston, of Fayette City; a grandson, Matthew and his wife, Megan Johnston, of Astoria, Ore.; a grandson, Taytum Johnston; and her dachshund, Rusty. Preceding her in death were her son, Kenneth Trunzo, who died Jan. 25, 2004; a granddaughter, Kathryn Sue Johnston, who died April 13, 2011; three brothers, Frank, Scott and Charles Schreiner; and a sister, Irene Meade. Friends will be received at the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, (724) 258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, where services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Raymond DiCamillo officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
