Krawtz , Samuel W. 83


Samuel W. Krawtz Latrobe Samuel W. Krawtz, 83, of Latrobe, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at his residence. Born Dec. 24, 1928, in Derry, Samuel was a son of the late Alex and Anna (Rellick) Krawtz. Samuel was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was retired from Latrobe Steel Company and was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Army. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 982 and the Hostetter Slovak Club. Besides his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine (Pevarnik) Krawtz; six brothers, Alex Jr., Michael, John, Joseph, Nickolas and George Krawtz; five sisters, Helen Anderson, Catherine Kozlesky, Mary Matteo, Ann Mazzoni and Stella Suess. Samuel is survived by two daughters, Rosemarie L. Piper and her husband, David, of Loyalhanna, and Mary Ann Price, of Latrobe; two brothers, Steve Krawtz, of Bradenville, and Stanley Krawtz and his wife, Debbie, of Latrobe; a sister, Rosalia Rylow, of Greensburg; grandchildren, Tom Price, Nick Price, Bobby Price, Tiffany Piper and Dalton Piper. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Military services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home by the American Legion Post 515 and the VFW Post 3414. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Derry.
