Gaurich , John 87

West Deer Township

John Gaurich, 87, of the Superior section of Russellton, West Deer Township, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at his residence. He was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Superior, where he has lived all of his life. A World War II Army sergeant, he was awarded the Bronze Service Medal. John worked for the Republic Steel Coal Mine as a coal miner for more than 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, Russellton, the UMWA, Russellton, and a life member of the West Deer American Legion, Superior. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Survivors include his daughters, Ann Marie Gaurich and Pamela L. Gaurich, at home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. "Mae" (Hudak) Gaurich; his parents, Charles and Anna (Galen) Gaurich; his brothers, Peter, Charles and Andrew Gaurich; and his sisters, Anna Colpo and Julia Felock. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township, where services will be conducted at noon Thursday.
