Edward G. Turcheck Wilpen Edward George Turcheck, 80, of Wilpen (Ligonier Township), passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at his home. He was born Feb. 23, 1932, in Allison, a son of the late Joseph J. and Justine Marinchak Turcheck. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Ligonier. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown. He also worked for E.R. Caldwell and Penn Line until he chose to stay at home and devote his time caring for his ill wife until her death in 2004. Ed enjoyed hunting, and since childhood, would go to the family hunting camp with his brothers and friends every hunting season. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He would often be seen at the Forks Inn conversing with the regulars at the restaurant. He enjoyed talking to old and new friends alike, and was known for his big, friendly smile. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Adele "Dick" Mimna Turchek in 2004. He is survived by his five loving children, Dennis Turcheck and his wife, Julie, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Colleen Gonda and her husband, Thomas, of Ligonier, Randy Turcheck and his fiancee, Laurie Norris, of Orchard Beach, Md., Rhonda Toohey and her husband, David, of Bellefonte, and Roxanne Warner and her husband, Michael, of Latrobe; nine grandchildren, Curtis Gonda, Kristi and David Toohey, Jaclyn and Kelsey Borza, Jacob Warner, Megan, Kyle and Eric Turcheck; two great-grandchildren, Kirsten Pletcher and Sydney Beaufort, and another great-grandchild due in January; three brothers, Robert and Michael Turcheck, both of Ligonier, and John Turcheck, of Littleton, Colo.; and a sister, Helen Quatrini, of Latrobe. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 402 E. Church St., Ligonier. A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Church with the Monsignor William G. Charnoki, P.A., as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
