Tempest , Bessie Jane 81

Bessie Jane (Newill) Tempest, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Excela Health Frick Hospital. Jane was born Feb. 24, 1931, at Goat Hill, Fayette County, a daughter of the late Kenneth M. and Dolly Mae Logan Newill. She was a student of the former Royal School and formerly employed by Anchor Hocking of South Connellsville. Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Herbert C. Tempest; her daughter, Tammy Jo Keslar and husband, Jack; a grandson, Jack Keslar Jr.; two sisters, Lillian "Dolly" Stewart and husband, Carl, and Nancy Lou Saloom and husband, Gene, all of Mt. Pleasant Township; also nieces and nephews, and great-nephew and nieces. In addition to her parents, Jane was predeceased by two brothers, Melvan "Shorty" Newill, during the Korean War, and Kenneth E. Newell. A memorial and committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Mt. Joy Cemetery, with the Rev. Timothy J. Hoover officiating. Arrangements are with Eugene G. Saloom, funeral director, with SALOOM-PETERSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 408 Depot St., Youngwood.
