Sam Cangey Jr., 79, of Monroeville, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, from complications from a stroke. Born Nov. 23, 1932, in Mahoningtown, he was the son of the late Rosina and Serafino Cangey. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Charlotte (Hannon) Cangey, of Monroeville; brothers, Domenick Cangey, of New Castle, and Ralph Cangey, of Austintown, Ohio; sister, Phyllis Stewart, of Butler; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Cangey and Connie Hannon; and brother-in-law, Russell Hannon, all of New Castle; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters, Antoinette Mastren, Mary (Frank) Chirumbolo and Nancy Cangey; and brothers, Frank Cangey and Joseph Cangey. Sam was a graduate of New Castle Senior High School and Youngstown State University. He retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and State Police after 44 years. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Monroeville. He loved to play poker and to bowl, and bled black n' gold for all Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Pirates. He enjoyed fall drives, feeding the birds and his trips to the Monroeville Library. His family and friends will always cherish his generous heart and kind spirit. The family received at St. Bernadette Church. A memorial Mass followed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bernadette Church's Ladies of Charity, the American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to the GENE H.
