Marie (Buriak) Bowser Myers, of Kittanning, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013. She was born Feb. 22, 1917, in McKees Rocks, to Fredrick and Anna (Kanai) Buriak. Marie was an excellent homemaker who loved to bake. Her lady locks were famous to many. She created heirloom quality afghans, quilts and bedspreads for her family. She worked for many years as a caterer and cook at the Kittanning Elks. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church since 1945. Preceding her in death was her first husband of 27 and a half years and father of her three children, Wood JR Bowser, who was the owner of Wood Bowser Tire Service in Kittanning. Also preceding her in death was her second husband of 27 and a half years, Grover H. Myers, of Leechburg. During that time, Grover was the Armstrong County commissioner for 16 years. They enjoyed traveling the world together. Survivors include Mrs. Marion (Constance Bowser) Kane, of Kittanning, Mrs. Thomas (Caren Bowser Krautbauer) Eperthener, of Greensburg, Mr. Alan Wood and Christine Spencer Bowser, of Worthington; and two stepdaughters, Mrs. David (Martha Myers) Hogue, of West Middlesex, and Mrs. Shirley Myers Kalmar, of Lower Burrell. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Kane, Mark Kane, Alan Jason (Holly) Bowser, Michelle Kane, Danielle (Tommy) Morgan, Kathleen (Harmeet) Singh, Joan (Ray) Zerjav, Michael (Amy) Eperthener and Andy (Sommer) Eperthener; and 11 great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepson-in-law, Albert Kalmar; and stepgrandson, Kevin Kalmar; and her younger siblings, two brothers, Nicholas and Fredrick Buriak; and a sister, Emily Silagyi. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at MANTINI FUNERAL HOME INC., Ford City. There will be a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. Monday Jan. 14, 2013, at the funeral home, followed by service at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Scott Quinn. The family requests donations to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 112 N. Water St., Kittanning.
