The Rev. John S. Zerby, of McKeesport, formerly of Sewickley died peacefully at home Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013. He was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Coffeyville, Kan. He was the loving husband of 48 years of Ardith (Mikesell) Zerby; and brother of Mary Lee Zerby, of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by parents, Lula (Long) Zerby and Henry and Ruth Zerby; along with brothers, Henry Jr., Morton, Marion and Bill Zerby; and daughter, Sharon Zerby. The Rev. John was a World War II veteran having served in the European Theater in the Army 8th Armored division. He was awarded a Purple Heart and was a member of Disabled American Veterans. For many years John traveled as an Evangelist and held church services all over the United States. Along with his wife, Ardith, they founded the Life Chapel in Ambridge where they pastored for 35 years. John was best remembered for his great love of the Lord and the Word of God along with the smile and handshake he extended to everyone. His ministry has affected many people throughout the years. He will be missed by his church family at Temple of Faith in North Versailles and the many friends he had in the community. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Temple of Faith with service immediately following. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors. Arrangements by the JAMES F.
