Fay J. Spangler Johnson, 87, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. She was born July 19, 1925, in Blanchard, Pa., the daughter of the late Russell J. and Fay M. Stover Spangler. Fay was a member of the Salina Bible Church and the Apollo Order of the Eastern Star. Fay was a 1943 graduate of Lock Haven High School. During World War II, she was employed by Paper Aircraft of Lock Haven, and later worked for Sylvania Electrical Corporation in Mill Hall, Pa. Before her retirement in 1994, she was employed for 29 years by Federal Laboratories (now Breeze Industries) in Tunnelton as a machine operator. Fay enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and reading. She became involved with rubber stamping and enjoyed making and sending hand-stamped cards to her friends. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bruce G. Johnson; a daughter, Cheryl Steuart and her husband, Larry, of Apollo; a son, Dennis B. Johnson and his wife, Cindy, of Avonmore; four grandchildren, Julie Steuart, Heather Stiffy and her husband, Larry, Heidi Shupe and her husband, Michael, and Jeffrey Steuart; four great-grandchildren, Jimmy and Morgan Shupe and Travis and Olivia Stiffy; and one sister, Anna Wolfe, of Erie. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, and from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in the KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME LTD., 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Reiner officiating.
