George Hapchuk, 83, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, in Excela Westmoreland Hospital. He was born Sunday, June 2, 1929, in Hempfield Township, the son of the late Michael and Mary (Zevchek) Hapchuk. He was the owner of Hapchuk Sanitation of Greensburg for 62 years. He was a member of the Croatian Club in Yukon. He enjoyed dancing polkas, woodworking and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Ellen I. (Wallace) Hapchuk; three children, Loretta Howard and her fiance, Carter Qurrey, of Gladewater, Texas, George M. (Ellen) Hapchuk, of Greensburg, and Lorraine Annie Hapchuk, of Greensburg; a daughter-in-law, Michele Croushore, of Jeannette; seven grandchildren, April (Chad) Stoup, Jacob (Samantha) Hapchuk, Nina Hapchuk and her boyfriend, Matt, Katie (Matt) Howell, Adrianne (Chris) Watkiss, Emily Hapchuk and Jason Hapchuk; six great-grandchildren, Isaac, Haley, Elly, Riley, Kasey and Keona; and three sisters, Agnes Ravel, of Azusa, Calif., Dorothy Potichko, of Gladewater, Texas and Betty Collins, of Wichita, Kan. He was preceded in death by his son; Denis A. Hapchuk, two brothers, William Hapchuk and John Hapchuk; and three sisters, Helen Botsford, Ruth Abernatha and Ann Solabnick. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Mark A. Wallace officiating at C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg .
