Thomas L. "Sonny" McIntyre Jr., 83, of Sarver (Buffalo Township), died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Fair Winds Manor, Winfield Township. He was the husband for 64 years of Ora M. (Toy) McIntyre, of Buffalo Township. He was born July 11, 1929, in Harrison Township, a son of the late Thomas L. McIntyre Sr. and Violet Bowser, and lived in this vicinity all of his life. He was a coal miner for Bethlehem Energy Mine and Bethlehem Steel Mine for 42 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Center United Methodist Church, Fawn Township. He was past president of UMWA local union and served on executive board of the former New Kensington Miners Clinic. He loved his church and served on numerous committees and taught Sunday school for more than 60 years and was a member of United Methodist Men. He was a fan of baseball and football, loved to fish and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kay E. Schriver (James), of Buffalo Township, Deborah S. Bartel (Dennis), of Buffalo Township, and Robyn G. Fleischman (Marc), of Buffalo Township; six grandchildren, Timothy Schriver (Nadine), Robert Schriver (Jennifer), Melissa Scalamogna (Anthony), Megan Shirley, Lauren Fleischman and Chelsea Fleischman; seven great-grandchildren, Timothy Schriver, Austin Schriver, Haley Schriver, Jenna Schriver, Ashley Aber, Brendan Aber and Aaron Schriver; and two sisters, Audrey Fultz, of Fawn Township, and Janice McIntyre, of Harrison Township. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don McIntyre; and infant sister, Carol. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at KRYNICKI FUNERAL HOME INC., 1007 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Center United Methodist Church, Fawn Township, with the Rev. Dr. James Ritchie, his pastor. Interment in Sarverville Cemetery, Sarver.
