John V. Staus, 71, of New Kensington, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights. He was born June 20, 1941, in DuBois, to the late John F. Staus and Mary Staus. He had lived in the New Kensington area for the last 15 years. John had worked as a foreman for Tunnelton Coal Mine and NU-FIELD Coal Mine in Renton for 25 years. An avid fisherman and hunter, he was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include his wife, Betty (Bullers) Staus; two sons, John R. Staus, of Greensburg, and Richard C. Staus, of New Kensington; two daughters, Patricia (Charles) Kvortek, of New Kensington, and Debbie Walker, of New Castle; grandchildren, Chuckie (Christina) Kvortek, Elizabeth, Amanda and Nicole Walker, John Cody, Kayla Staus, and Richard Staus Jr.; and sisters, Blanche Berckblicker, of Glenshaw, and Carla Kelly, of New Kensington. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. Monday until time of a memorial service at noon in the JOHN F. KRUPA FUNERAL HOME INC., 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington, 724-337-7504, Robert Jarosinski, supervisor. Burial will be private.
