Mary Elizabeth (Dunaway) Zavatchen, 80, of Connellsville, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born March 10, 1933, in Dunbar. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph A. Zavatchen of 58 years and 11 months; eight children, Mary Margaret Wiltrout and her husband Howard, Joseph R. Zavatchen and his friend Debra Macey, Michael R. Zavatchen and his wife Jeanne, Rita Burnsworth and her husband Ernest, John P. Zavatchen, Susan Burnsworth, Anne Ferrick and her husband Chuck, and Michelle Thrower and her friend David Perkins; 17 grandchildren, Mary Ellen Wiltrout and Alberto Nunes, Elizabeth Wiltrout, Samantha and Jessica Zavatchen, Ernest Burnsworth and Amber Keffer, Jeremy Burnsworth and Jessica Locke, Deanne Burnsworth, Mary Sue and Todd Hixson, Rodney Jr. and Tiffany Burnsworth, Emma, Carolyn, Olivia and Rachel Ferrick, and Tyler, Alexis and Megan Thrower; five great-grandchildren, Clarissa, Patrick and Ryan Burnsworth and Justin and Jena Hixson; a sister, Margaret (Cookie) Flockvich and her husband, Robert; brother-in-law, Regis Kavlick; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was predeceased by her parents, John R. Dunaway and Mary Ellen Gouker Dunaway; her sister, Ann C. Kavlick; and son-in-law, Rodney A. Burnsworth. She was a member of the Christian Mothers at Immaculate Conception Church of Connellsville, the Slovak Club, and a member and former officer of the Casey Girls Club. She worked for Bell Telephone Co. and for Molinaro Law Office for 36 years. Mary was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins hockey fan and loved spending time with her family. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 N. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, where prayers of transfer will be held Thursday (at a time to be announced). A funeral Mass will follow in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, with Father Robert Lubic as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery, Connellsville.
