George R. Bollinger, 78, of Summit, N.J., formerly of Harrison, died Sunday (Nov. 4, 2001) in Overlook Hospital, Summit. Born June 10, 1923, in Natrona Heights, Harrison, he lived in Wilmington, Del., before moving to Summit 41 years ago. Mr. Bollinger attended Grove City College and graduated from Cornell University with a degree in chemical engineering. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he served as a training officer in the Army Corps of Engineers. Mr. Bollinger worked in the technical service area of Dupont Corp. for 35 years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Summit. Mr. Bollinger enjoyed golfing, fishing, and visiting in western Pennsylvania. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Gano Bollinger; a son, George Bollinger Jr. of Golden, Colo.; a daughter, Susan Odell of Madison, N.J.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Waltenbaugh of Natrona Heights, Harrison. Mr. Bollinger was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Kelsey Bollinger, and his parents, Joseph G.T. and Anna Lenkner Bollinger. Memorial services were Nov. 7 in Central Presbyterian Church, Summit. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of George Bollinger to the American Institute for Cancer Research, 1759 R. Street NW, P.O. Box 97167, Washington, D.C. 20090-7167.
