Nichols , Theodore E. 82


Theodore E. "Ted" Nichols, 82, of Gibsonia and West Palm Beach, Fla., died Friday, July 12, 2013, in Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford. Born Oct. 12, 1930, in Wilkinsburg, he was a son of the late Theodore R. and Dorothy McElhaney Nichols. He was the owner/president of T.E. Nichols Co. (architectural material for schools). A Korean War veteran, he served in the Air Force as a sergeant, and was a member of the American Legion. While serving in the Air Force, he was awarded Airman of the Month. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown and also Royal Poinciana Chapel, West Palm Beach, Fla. He was a member of Masonic Infinity Lodge 0546 F and AM and Blue Lodge, Gourgas Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite, and a 50-year member of the Grand Lodge. He was an avid golfer. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jacqueline Chene Nichols; four daughters, Cynthia (C. Martin) Dixon, of Mars, Penny Nichols, of Marietta, Ga., Marlene (Steve) Drolet, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Beth (Zenon Schmitt) Nichols, of Franklin Park; eight grandchildren, Dr. Mollie Ann (Adam Clements) Dixon, Ted (Laura) and Rose Marie Dixon, Alexander and Rachel Hegner, Kaeli Chene Hannan, Justin Robert Schmitt and Brittany Schmitt; three great-grandchildren, Brady, Autumn and Jade Dixon; and three brothers, John (Martha) Nichols, of Ross Township, Ronald (Arlene) Nichols, of Evans City, and Richard (Bonnie) Nichols, of Cranberry Township. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ann (James) Flowers. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the KYPER FUNERAL HOME, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. at Mt. Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Dan Muttart, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Mt. Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 301 Grant St., Suite 900, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
