Burton Allan Johns, 70, of Cowansville, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Sugarcreek Rest Home. Born Dec. 27, 1942, in Turtle Creek, he was a son of the late Burton H. Johns and LaVerne (Boyd) Johns of Adrian. Mr. Johns had been a welder at Pullman Standard in Butler. He was a member of Brush Valley Brethren Church in Adrian. A lifetime member and past honorable worthy president of the Kittanning Fraternal Order of Eagles, Burton also was a member of the Kittanning VFW and Kittanning Men's Club. He was a past chaplain for all three organizations. Burton enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, hunting and fishing. He also devoted his life to faith healing and ministry. In addition to his mother, Burton is survived by his wife, Frances C. Johns; a daughter, Julie Johns of Adrian; a son, Jeffrey (Joyce) Johns of Kittanning; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; his siblings, Lana Monsour (Sam), Barry Johns (Jane), Dixie Whiteman (Mike), Scott Johns (Peggy), Tracy Gringrich (Greg), and Ginger Shaffer (Meade); numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends at Sugarcreek Rest Home. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME in Cowansville. Additional visitation will be from 3 p.m. Saturday until time of services at 4 p.m. at Brush Valley Brethren Church in Adrian. Interment will be in Brush Valley Brethren Church Cemetery.
