Patsy Mangone, 89, of Lower Burrell, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013, in his home, with his wife by his side. He was born April 22, 1924, in New Kensington, to the late Frank and Catherine (Fugnela) Mangone. Patsy worked for F. M. Weitzen as a truck driver for 20 years and as a warehouse manager for 12 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Arnold United Methodist Church, where he served as a lay leader and Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years. Patsy proudly served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and received a Good Conduct Medal, an American Theater Service Medal, a European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five bronze stars and a World War II Victory Medal. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances (Peg) Yingling; and brothers, Charles, Tony and Joe. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gloria (Christian) Mangone; son, Philip (Esther) Mangone, of Apollo; granddaughter, Tammy (Brian) Eshbaugh, of Lower Burrell; great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Courtney Eshbaugh, of Lower Burrell and Jennifer (Ryan) Goehring, of Canonsburg; great-great-grandson, Chase Anthony Condarcure, of Lower Burrell; and a sister, Helen Giovanelli, of New Kensington. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Arnold United Methodist Church, with Pastor Karen Prescott officiating. Private burial, with full military honors by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard, will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Arnold United Methodist Church, 1801 Leishman Ave., Arnold, PA 15068.
