Helen Louise (Kosco) Dettore, 89, of West Homestead, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013. She was born Dec. 12, 1923, to the late George and Barbara (Timko) Kosco. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert Dettore; loving mother of Gerald (Kathy) Dettore, Cynthia (Wayne) and Charmaine (Louis); sister of Marie Kivela, Elizabeth Mitrick-Cmar, Paul Kosko, Ethel Wahal and the late Ann "Honey Kay" Joehnig, John Koscho, George Kosco and Emil "Ump" Kosco; and grandmother of Dawn (Jim) Daggett, Danielle (Jim) Smith, Nicholas Mark Louda and Dacia (Jason) Kreinbrook. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Helen and her husband, Albert, were the former owners of Dettore's Pizza in Munhall and several other locations and also owners of many other businesses, including Wohlfarth's Bakery Franchise, Gift Shoppes at Sheraton Inn Monroeville and Seven Springs Ski Resort. Helen also volunteered at St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, St. Brendan Church, Steel Valley High School Library and South Hills Health System. Her generosity and kindness were well known throughout the area. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the SAVOLSKIS-WASIK-GLENN FUNERAL HOME INC., 3501 Main St., Munhall. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Therese Church, Munhall, with Father Nick Mastrangelo as celebrant. Interment in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Munhall.
