Nick G. Borkovich, 70, of Irwin, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, in UPMC East, Monroeville. He was born Sept. 25, 1943, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Ignatius "Iggy" and Constance (Estatico) Borkovich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert A. Borkovich. Prior to his retirement, Nick had been a service foreman, having worked for Automated Entrance Systems Co. Inc. in Oakmont for 25 years. He was member of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church in Herminie. Nick was an avid golfer, a ranger for nearly 25 years at Carradam Golf Course, which was his home away from home. He was a founding member of the Jeannette American Legion golf league, which eventually led to him to Cherry Creek Golf Course. There, he reconnected with old friends and made many new ones. He enjoyed family vacations at Canadohta Lake, and going to camp on hunting trips with his sons and grandkids. He also enjoyed going to the farm to see his horse, Lady. He is already greatly missed by his dog, Shadow. NCIS ratings will never be the same. Nick is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Denise (Knor) Borkovich, of Irwin; his three sons, Nick (Valerie) Borkovich, of Yukon, Shane Borkovich, of Mt. Pleasant, and Dru Alan Borkovich and his girlfriend, Missy Finella, of Irwin; two daughters, Beth Ann (Chris) Kohler, of New Stanton, and Monica (Ed) Cox, of Herminie; 13 grandchildren, who he adored; a brother, Joseph (Faith) Borkovich, of Madison; a sister, Connie Hoey, of Trafford; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon. The family requests casual dress or golf attire.
