Frances Ann "Fran" Novak, 89, a lifelong resident of Dunbar, passed away suddenly Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, in UPMC Presbyterian, Oakland. She was born June 14, 1924, in Connellsville, daughter of the late Joseph DeMarco and the late Rosa DeBiase DeMarco. She was a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She retired from Fayette County Head Start, where she worked for 20 years doing what she loved, teaching little children. She is survived by her two beloved sons, Peter Novak and wife, Janet, of Somerset, and Michael Novak and wife, Nancy, of Connellsville; grandchildren, Amy Novak and Jill Wright; and great-granddaughter, Sara Wright. She will also be greatly missed by dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Paul A. Novak; newborn infant daughter, Frances Ann; and a brother, Dr. John DeMarco. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, in the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville St., Dunbar. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, in St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church with Father Micah E. Kozoil as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
