Francine Rose-Strane, 52, of Penn Township, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, as the result of a skiing accident Jan. 31, 2014. She was born July 10, 1961, in Wilkinsburg, a daughter of the late James and Evelyn Fierst Rose. She was employed as a certified school nurse for the Penn-Trafford School District at the McCullough Middle School. She was a member of St. Barbara Church in Harrison City, was a dedicated mother and loving wife, loved quilting and was an avid gardener who liked fitness and skiing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Rose. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Roger W. Strane; a son, James R. Strane, of Penn Township; a daughter, Elizabeth E. Strane and fiance, Thaddeus Janus, of Penn Township; six brothers, James Rose, of Alexandria, Va., Thomas Rose, of Hampton, Terrance Rose, of Orlando, Fla., William Rose, of San Diego, Calif., Frederick Rose, of Ambridge, and Mark Rose, of Penn Township; and a sister, Mary Dolak, of Chicago, Ill. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Barbara Church (everyone please go directly to the church) with Father Kenneth G. Zaccagnini as celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Penn Township. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the American Heart Association.
