Marie Freeman-Snihur Obituary

Marie Freeman-Snihur, a beloved wife, mother, and beacon of light to all who knew her, passed away on March 19, 2025, in Ladner, British Columbia, surrounded by her cherished family. She was 72 years old. Marie was born on May 22, 1952, in Nova Scotia, the daughter of Maurice and Jeanette Freeman. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the profound impact one person can have on the world.

Marie's journey took her from the rugged shores of Nova Scotia to British Columbia, where, over 50 years ago, she met the love of her life, Will Snihur. Their romance blossomed into a beautiful marriage, a union so enchanting it could have been lifted from the pages of a fairy tale. Together, they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to one another.

A woman of remarkable compassion, Marie embraced Will's children, Trevor and Jackie, raising them as her own with a boundless, nurturing love that left an indelible mark on their lives. Her family was her heart, and she poured herself into creating a home where kindness and warmth were ever-present.

Marie's career was a reflection of her desire to make the world a better place. Through her chosen path, she touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of goodness and positive change that will ripple through generations. Her dedication to others was matched only by the strength she showed in her final battle with illness-a fight she faced with courage and grace until the very end.

Marie Freeman-Snihur leaves behind her devoted husband, Will; her children, Trevor and Jackie (Jeff Vance); her grandchildren Kathryn, William, Taylor, Kyle; her sister Ruth; and a community forever enriched by her presence. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. A celebration of her life will be held on 17 May in the clubhouse at Chesapeake Landing at 5900 Ferry Rd. from 2:00 - 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity close to Marie's heart, reflecting her lifelong commitment to improving the lives of others.
