In Loving Memory of Richard "Dick" McKeown
October 17, 1933 - April 22, 2025
With heavy hearts we share the passing of our beloved dad, Richard "Dick" McKeown.
Richard was a devoted, loving husband to Joan, a great dad to Monica Craft (Darryl), Kerry Teves (Tony) and Laura McKeown and a loving, proud grandpa and great grandpa to Nathan & Kaiden, Amanda (Damon), Jordan (Nick) and Kaitlyn (Liam). He was a good man, loyal, hardworking, patient, protective, caring and above all, loving. His strength and resilience touched everyone around him.
Dick was born and raised in Saskatoon, the youngest of six children. He had an active childhood filled with sports, working on a farm, and delivering milk. In 1955, he followed his brothers to Kitimat, where he met and married Joan, and together they raised three daughters. In 1956, Dick joined the Kitimat Fire Department and proudly dedicated over 32 years of service as a firefighter and paramedic, forming lifelong friendships and making a lasting impact on his community. After retiring, Dick and Joan enjoyed their years in Victoria. True to his roots, Dick always looked forward to his annual trip back to Saskatoon to work on the farm

Dick lived life to the fullest, traveling the world with Joan and their many good friends. A dedicated volunteer, whether BBQing, selling tickets, or driving Santa around on Christmas Eve, Dick was always ready to lend a hand. He enjoyed fishing, skiing, and was a proud member of the Kitimat Curling Rink, which twice won the BC Firefighter Championships. Dick had a soft spot for animals and always took time to visit with passing neighborhood dogs. He loved to cook and bake. No visit was complete without a batch of his pancakes or the famous wacky cake on a special occasion. Dick made friends easily and deeply valued those relationships. More than anything, he cherished time spent with others, sharing stories and his sense of humor, often over a beer or a good scotch in the sunroom. We are forever grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the love he gave so generously. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to thank Dr Lane, Nurse Carla and the amazing staff at VGH for the compassionate care and support they provided in his final days.

Dick requested no formal service, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
