Dan grew up in Independence, Missouri with his older sister, Myrna, and loving parents. He attended Van Horn High School before joining the Army in 1967. After his time in the military he became a union flooring installer, eventually opening his own store, New Day Interiors. He went on to become a carpet rep for a local distributor, a sales representative for Heckel Brothers Beauty supply, then a sales representative for Thybony Wallcoverings, finishing his career at the Ted Miller Agency of American Family Insurance.
In 1983, He welcomed a daughter (Amy) with his second wife Sandra J. (Hanley) Stoner. The couple divorced years later.
He was excited to become a grandfather in 2009, when his daughter (Amy) welcomed her own daughter, Kaylee "Bug" Adams. He was a very proud Papa holding that little girl.
In his greatest years, he was often found cruising around in his red MG convertible that he loved so much. His favorite place to be was Eureka Springs, Arkansas in the fall, top down on the MG, hugging the curves of the road. Later he became an avid motorcyclist.
Dan had a very close group of friends that he cherished, including his loyal Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Gracie. He was always the life of the party. He lit up the room when he entered. He was always a joker and was adored by anyone who met him. He was one of a kind. He will be truly missed.
