Alberta Dennis Obituary

Alberta Watkins, a beloved mother, sister, and devoted servant of the Lord, entered eternal rest on June 17, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on October 14, 1933, in Danville, Virginia, Alberta built a life defined by faith, family, and service.

In 1957, Alberta married the late Alan B. Dennis, and together they raised a loving family in Newport News, Virginia, where she resided for the majority of her life.

She is survived by her three devoted sons: **Alan Benjamin Dennis, Jr., Callison Eugene Dennis, and Robert Lee Dennis**; her loving brother, **Sherman Watkins**; and a host of grand-nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and her cherished extended church family.

A lifelong woman of faith, Alberta was a dedicated member of **The Holy Tabernacle Deliverance Church** for over 60 years. She served faithfully in the ministry and was affectionately known as the “Mother of the Church.” Her spiritual leadership, wisdom, and compassion touched countless lives and left a lasting legacy within the congregation and beyond.

Professionally, Alberta retired from the **Jenkins Elementary School Board**, where she made a lasting impact through her kindness, dedication, and quiet strength.

A celebration of Alberta’s life will be held on **Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 12:00 PM** at **The Holy Tabernacle Deliverance Church**, located at **14742 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Virginia**. **Bishop Kermit Jones** will officiate.
