Anthony (Tony) Guy MacNeil, 56, passed away Saturday, July 5th, 2025.
A celebration of life with close family will be held in Cambridge, NY.
Special thanks to the North Platte Police Department, Humane Society, Days Inn and Adams and Swanson Funeral home for your kindness to our family while navigating Tony’s natural passing in your town.
Tony was born April 27, 1969, in Cambridge, NY to Mary Robinson (Worner) and Alan MacNeil where he grew up the “baby” of the family with his older brother Sly (Howard) and sister Robin, until their youngest brother, Heath, was born when Tony was a teen.
Tony loved tinkering. Growing up, you could often find him with a motor torn apart at the kitchen table, everything covered with grease, or a dirt bike in the middle of the living room. Tony and Sly, though not twins, were connected in a way that made people wonder, and Robin often found her hands full as their older sister trying to keep them out of trouble!
After graduating from Cambridge Central High School in 1988, Tony and his older brother followed the job as linemen, from New York to Florida. He went west to Oklahoma where he fell in love with the state and stayed for over 30 years before deciding to head to North Dakota to be with his big “sis”. Some of Tony’s happiest times were in Oklahoma working on a horse ranch. He had a connection with animals, and it brought him so much joy to be with them daily. While there, he was introduced to his love of photography, and what a gift it was. His favorite things to photograph were horses and lightening and sharing them with his family brought him so much happiness. When asked “how do you that, Tony?” He would say “I don’t know, I just feel it.”
Tony was a kind man, who offered his heart and generosity to anyone who seemed to need it. While he faced many difficulties in life, his kindness rarely wavered; and that will be the memory we hold closest to our hearts, knowing that he touched so many lives during his time earth-side.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary and Ron Robinson. His sister, Robin Kalinowski, brothers, Sly MacNeil, and Heath (Meaghan) MacNeil, stepsister, Tracy (David) Churchill, sister-in-law Laura MacNeil and brother-in-law Will McCart. His nieces and nephews, Jason, Amanda, Catherine, Alexander, and Elizabeth MacNeil, Breana (Dillon) McCart, Kaitlyn (Tyler) Leingang, Lydia and Mary Churchill. Along with his great nieces and nephews Adison MacNeil, Jaiden Gregory, Bryson Labelle, and Emmet Leingang.
He is preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Alan and Marge MacNeil, his grandparents Howard and Viola Worner and Raymond, Elenor and Mary MacNeil, as well as his brother in-law, CJ Kalinowski.
Cheers to Tony. May we find solace in knowing he’s finally at peace, and over time, may our happier memories replace our saddest ones. He should be here now, but since he’s not, we celebrate all he was to so many, and the part of our hearts that will always be his.

I worked with Tony at Davco Fab Inc. in Jennings, Oklahoma, for a number of years. We were a small steel fabricator of vessels and components for the oil industry. Tony was our Maintenance Manager. He was great to work with, and we became good friends. He always tried to be optimistic and looked for the good in everyone. His mother and I became email friends through Tony. I pray for God's loving comfort for all of his family and friends. Cindy Janes
