Carol Lightsey (Kraft) Obituary

Carol Jean Lightsey (Kraft), 72, passed away peacefully in her home in Rockport, Texas on August 10th, 2025.

Carol Jean was born on February 16, 1953, to Annie Mae (Schubert) and Alex Louis Kraft in New Braunfels.  With her siblings Joe and Connie, she enjoyed many years of her childhood on a farm on Hunter Road before moving to the Alves Lane farm, where her parents remained until their passing.   Carol graduated from Canyon High School and loved playing clarinet in the Cougar band.

In 1971, Carol married Randy Adams, and they were blessed with two sons, Rustin and Ravan.  She helped Randy manage Randy Adams Inc, a local car business, for many years.  In 1989, Carol married John Lightsey and cherished the addition of his son Wade to their family.  Carol and John completed their family in 1993 with the birth of their son Hunter Alexander.  She loved being a boy mom, and proudly cheered for her four sons at every BMX race, football game, basketball game, and golf tournament.  She loved taking care of children and enjoyed working at Cooper Country Day School for many years.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Alex and Annie Mae, and her brother Kenneth Joe Kraft.  She is survived by her devoted sister Connie and her husband Danny, her sister-in-law Nancy, her loving husband John, sons Rustin and wife Robin, Ravan and wife Crystal, Wade and wife Julie, and Hunter.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Abby, Hattan, Ranger, Mia, Tatym, and Ella, who affectionately called her “Geeg,” and nieces/nephews Alex, Andy, Lacey, Angela, and J Dylan.  In addition, she will be missed by John’s brother Roger and his wife Rosemary and his sister Mary and her husband Tim along with their families.

Carol loved nine pin bowling, Pearl Light, cooking, and fishing for catfish.

The family will be having a private graveside service at Lone Oak Cemetery August 19th at 10am.
