AILEEN M. HOFFMAN Obituary

AILEEN MARION HOFFMAN (nee Bishop), 89, entered into eternal rest on September 14, 2025, with her family by her side. Aileen was dearest wife of 66 years to Albert Larkin Hoffman, devoted mother of Lynne Baranek (James), Al Hoffman (Debi), Peggy Meyers (Clayton), and Michael Hoffman (Deb), loving grandmother of Christine, Clay, Jenny, Emily, Mark, Bryan, Joe, Alex, Michael, Caroline and Sean, and great-grandmother of 10. Dear sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to many. Aileen was predeceased by her parents Charles and Emma Bishop, sister Patricia Boles, brother Charles Bishop, and sister Mary Schratt.

Family meant the world to Aileen and hosting family gatherings along with Al brought her much joy. Over the years, including relocating the family twice to new cities, the gatherings grew to embrace many dear friends who became like family. Vacations to the Smoky Mountains, the beaches of the Carolinas, and Salt Fork State Park have left her children and grandchildren with many wonderful memories.

A founding member of St. Clarence Catholic Church, North Olmsted, Aileen was a devoted participant in daily Mass and a tireless volunteer. Whether she was helping at a bake sale, Bingo, or the annual church festival, Aileen always gave her time and energy freely. Her kindness extended beyond the church doors; she was always ready to help a friend in need or welcome a new neighbor. Her generous heart will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Aileen’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her dedicated caregivers at both Concord Reserve (Westlake) and Hospice of the Western Reserve for their compassionate care.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated MONDAY, OCTOBER 13, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Clarence (30106 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted). There will be a gathering immediately following Mass at St. Clarence. Inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, in keeping with Aileen’s lifelong spirit of generosity, her family requests that gifts of remembrance be made in the form of an act of kindness to someone in need.

Mr. Hoffman and family - I am so very sorry for your loss. I became acquainted with Mrs. Hoffman when she was assigned to my daughter for an 8th grade PSR project. She was a warm and loving person; I always enjoyed chatting with her and Mr. Hoffman after mass on Saturdays. God needed another angel at His table and she is now at peace and free from pain. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed her friendship along with Mr. Hoffman.
