Audrey Colleen Vanover, a longtime resident of Commerce, OK, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, July the 14th, 2025. She was 95 years old.
Colleen was born February the 20th, 1930, in Bluejacket, OK to Russell Orr Bump and Lorena Mae (Wallis) Bump. She attended Bluejacket Public Schools. On July the 15th, 1947, she married Bezonny Vanover in a ceremony in Bentonville, AR. They made their home In Commerce where they owned and operated Van’s Auto for many years.
Later on, she worked as a seamstress for Burlington and Glen Berry Mfg. However, the job she found most rewarding and enjoyable was being a stay-at-home mom, raising her children. She was also a second mom to numerous children that would come to the house needing to eat or to catch a ride across town. She also loved fishing, camping, being a taxi driver for the kids, cooking, and baking the best fried pies which was confirmed by Newell Coach employees. She was also a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Miami.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bezonny; her parents; a son, Boyd Vanover; and a sister, Doris Jean Dillingham.
She is survived by three children, Larry Vanover and wife Cindy of Commerce, Brenda Evans and husband Bob of North Miami, and Susie Tippit and husband Bruce of rural Miami; two siblings, Ron Bump of Minnesota, and Barbara Sue Rascoe and Edmond, OK; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July the 17th, 2025, at the First Christian Church in Miami. The family will receive friends at 1:00, prior to the service. Brandon Fletcher will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bluejacket Cemetery. Casket bearers will be grandsons, Chet Brewington, Gene Evans, Bowe Brewington, Josh Tippit, Christian Vanover, and Dylan Bozarth. Honorary casket bearer will be Michael Vanover.
Services entrusted to the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch.
