Donald “Ray” Baughman passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Sebastopol, Texas on June 5, 2025. He was born on March 20, 1949, in Houston, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald “Donnie” Baughman and Louise Baughman; his sister, Catheryn “Cathy” Taylor; his mother and father-in-law, James and Marjory Bollier; and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Ray is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Lois “Dianne” Baughman; his sons, Donald “Ray” Baughman Jr and wife Jodi, Michael Wayne Baughman and wife Tracy; his grandchildren, Ashley Baughman Johnson, Mathew James Baughman and wife Sarah, Eli Crawford and wife Courtney, Ben Crawford and wife Ashley, Korie Baugh and wife Camille; and his great-grandchildren, Kambrie Crawford, Alex Crawford, and Amoray “Rayray” Crawford. He is also survived by his siblings and siblings-in-law: Ronnie Baughman and wife Elizabeth, Connie Keever, Rickey Baughman and wife Lisa, James Bollier and wife Viki, Ellen Fuller and husband Danny, Mark Bollier and wife Lavinia. Additionally, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members mourn his loss.
Ray grew up in Houston, Texas where he met his wife Dianne as a young man. He began his career in ironworking to support his young family, dedicating 16 years to the local 84 ironworkers. In 1977, he relocated his family to Trinity, Texas, where he established a construction company and embarked on building and remodeling houses in the area. He developed a profound love for building and took remarkable pride in his work. As his sons grew, they joined him in the trade, learning carpentry skills from their father. Ray enjoyed taking long road trips with his wife, fishing with his wife and sons, tending to his yard, and spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren as they grew older.
