Donald Simmons Obituary

Donald Leroy Simmons, 90, of Grove, OK, passed away late Thursday evening, June the 26th, 2025, at the Claremore Veterans Center, after a period of declining health. He was surrounded by his loving family.


He was born August the 23rd, 1934, in Stevensville, Montana to Warren Merle Simmons and Bertha (Manning) Simmons. On January the 23rd, 1973, he married the love of his life, the former Judith Buist. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage.


He is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for 30 years for the State of Montana as an Inspector for the Dept. of Agriculture. He was a lover of the outdoors. He was a pilot, and he also enjoyed snowmobiles, square dancing, hunting, fishing, and horses. However, his greatest love was his children and grandchildren and watching them play sports. He was of the Methodist faith.


He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenny Simmons; a stepson, Billy Wallace; and a sister, Toots West.


He is survived by his wife, Judith, of the home; his children, Vicki Bruner and husband Steve of Bluejacket, OK, Ladonna Kneedler of Missoula, MT, Frannie Simmons of Bluejacket, OK, Bob Wallace of Bellingham, WA, and Robyn Wallace of Tacoma, WA; his grandchildren, Donya Story, Beth Manis, Kenna Hudelson, Dena Hardin, Mykel Miller, Randy Miller, Zachary Wallace, Spencer Wallace, Lauren Wallace, Jordan Wallace, Jacque Perry, and Tori Anderson; and 13 great grandchildren.


At his request, no formal services will be held.


Arrangements have been entrusted to the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch.
