Doris “Miz Ginny” Hunt, 81, formerly of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life and into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the Oak Haven Community Care Center in Center Point, LA surrounded by her four girls. Miz Ginny, the daughter of Johnnie Lee Williams and Myrtle Lee Keaton Williams, was born on August 9, 1942 in Shreveport, LA.
Miz Ginny was a graduate of Springhill High School, Louisiana College in Pineville, and LSU-New Orleans where she earned her master’s degree in special education. While at Louisiana College, she met the love of her life and they began their journey together in 1966. Through the years, Miz Ginny served right alongside Bro. Don at several churches throughout Louisiana and one church in upstate New York through the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board. Not only was she Bro. Don’s partner and helpmate at home, she was also his helpmate and support at church. Miz Ginny enjoyed playing the piano, leading children’s church, children’s choir, VBS and served in any and every capacity necessary at church camps throughout their ministry. Mrs. Hunt taught elementary, high school, and special education for over 30 years. She had a special place in her heart for children with special needs.
Miz Ginny enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, traveling, and gardening, but preferred spending time with family more than anything. Summers were made memorable when all the grandchildren came to Mawmaw Ginny and Pawpaw Don’s for a week. Cooking, gardening, fishing, and VBS were highlights of those summer visits.
Miz Ginny is survived by her four loving daughters, Jennifer Tatman and Tracy of Port Allen, Kimberly McNeal and Ray of Pineville, April Banks and Frank of Effie, and Kathryn Hunt of Oberlin; seven grandsons, Caleb Guillory and Chasity, Cyle Guillory and Kasey, Cole Guillory, Christopher McNeal and Desiree, Eric McNeal and Hailey, Joseph Banks and McKenzie, Cameron Doyle and Ali; three granddaughters, Cayla Mitchell and Tyler, Billie Ann Dupont and Austin, and Allyson “Ally” Doyle; eleven great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Jamison, Carson, Emery, Jansen, Gabriel, Ruston, Emmitt, Caroline, Sawyer, and Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews..
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Martin L. Williams, and granddaughter, Briana Banks.
Serving as pallbearers are Eric McNeal, Caleb Guillory, Christopher McNeal, Joseph Banks, Cyle Guillory, Cameron Doyle, Cole Guillory, and Tyler Mitchell.
