Douglas T. Hartsfield, 71, passed away on July 14, 2025, in Huntsville, Texas. Born on January 21, 1954, in Casa Grande, Arizona, Doug lived a life marked by resilience, faith, and a deep love for music and family.
Doug was the beloved father of two daughters: Vennessa Moon and her husband John Moon III, and Darlene Toner and her husband Jason Toner. He was a proud grandfather to Haden Wood, Lori Moon, John Henry Moon IV, and Sebastian Toner. His family brought him great joy and were a source of strength throughout his life.
He is also remembered with love by his sister-in-law Margaret Hartsfield and a large extended family of nieces and nephews: Tina Hartsfield Shattuck, Patricia Hartsfield Hopper, Paul Hartsfield, Lon Hartsfield, Rhonda Hartsfield Hall, Deborah Hartsfield, Gevedia Hartsfield Conner, Sybil Hartsfield, Laura Lynn Hartsfield Conner, Melissa Hartsfield, Nina Lopez, James Ervin Hartsfield, Donna Hartsfield Nowlin, Christina Hartsfield Dull, Patricia Kelly Hartsfield Peavey, Angela Hartsfield, and Chad Hartsfield. Doug also leaves behind many great-nieces and great-nephews who will carry forward his memory.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Ervin Lee Hartsfield and Ruby Bernice Carrol Hartsfield; six brothers—Leon Hartsfield, William Hartsfield, Ervin Carrol Hartsfield, Donald Ray Hartsfield, Christopher Lee Hartsfield, and Patrick Kelly Hartsfield; nephews Brian Evan Lee Hartsfield and Lonny Wayne Henderson; and nieces Sharon Hartsfield Fountain and Cindy Hartsfield Whaley.
A man of deep spiritual conviction, Doug had a strong relationship with Jesus Christ. His faith was central to his life and guided him through both trials and triumphs. Those who knew him witnessed the transformation he underwent—overcoming a difficult past to become a loving and kind example of what it means to live in grace.
Doug’s passion for music was evident to all who knew him. He found joy in playing the drums as well as the guitar and bass guitar. Singing brought him peace and connection—a reflection of both his artistic spirit and his devotion to worship.
Doug’s legacy is one of redemption through faith and love shared with family. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on July 26, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Trinity Church of God 359 E Caroline St
