Euvaldo “Bubba” Nino, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Euvaldo faced significant challenges from birth, including cerebral palsy and being deaf mute. Yet throughout his life, he radiated light, love, and a quiet resilience that left an imprint on everyone who knew him.
Fluent in American Sign Language, and able to read and write, Euvaldo communicated with clarity, heart, and humor. He completed the equivalent of a high school diploma while living at Rainbow Haven in Shafter and went on to earn a two-year certificate of completion from Gavilan College. He attended Hope Services, participating in their day program, including paid work positions at IBM and the Gilroy Dispatch Later in life, Euvaldo joyfully participated in the day program at New Perspectives, where he enjoyed many community outings. Euvaldo also volunteered for many years alongside his parents at the St. Joseph’s Family Center.
In the later years of his life, the effects of cerebral palsy progressed, and he became wheelchair-bound. Even so, Euvaldo’s spirit remained unshaken and his passions defined him. He had a lifelong love of trains, maps, reading and cheering for all of his local sports teams. His curiosity and sweet spirit brought joy to those around him. Euvaldo was also a proud and active participant in the Gavilan District Special Olympics for several years and enjoyed attending the Adaptive Recreation Program through Gilroy Recreation, the annual Sportsmen Chef Fishability event and loved going on vacations.
He is survived by his mother, Ramona; siblings: Gabriel (Lisa), Leonor, Anna, Eduardo, Alma, and Lorenzo (Sara); and his cousin Jorge (Michelle). He was Uncle Bubba to Virginia (Carlos), Haleigh, Kami (Dylan), Victor, Sofia, Dominic, and Matthew; and Great-Uncle Bubba to Aiden, Eli, Stetson, and Kolter. He is preceded in death by his father, Jesus, and his youngest brother, Tom.
Euvaldo’s legacy is one of love, perseverance, and joy in the little things. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Memorial mass will be held Friday, July 11, 2025 at 10 am at St. Mary Church in Gilroy, with a reception luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Family Center in his memory.
