Frank Shields Obituary

Frank Anderson Shields was born on November 28. 1946 in Memphis Texas to Henry and Dorothy Shields.  Frank moved with his mom to Spearman Texas in 1958 and attended Spearman schools.  Frank joined the army in 1966 where he was a Sargent E5 stationed at Fort Ord working as a California Rider in the APC.

Frank married Sherry Weant August 19,1968 and made their home in Spearman.  They had Tammy August 11 1969 and William on February 28, 1978.                                      .

Frank worked as a mechanic most of his life and even owned his own business in Spearman, Franks Engine Service, specializing in irrigation engines.   In his younger years Frank volunteered his time on Spearman Volunteer Fire Department and at the Spearman Union Church.  He played on a men’s baseball league and he and Sherry loved to square dance.  Frank always enjoyed a good card game even during his last time at the hospital in Spearman playing against the nurses!

Frank loved his family more than anything else.  He stepped in to help whenever he could! He even moved in with Tammy to help raise her sons while she attended nursing school and worked full time.  His time with his kids and their friends was some of his favorite memories. He would drive them anywhere and was always up for an adventure.  Frank chased many a kid and was never too old for a good hide and go seek game or foot race and was known for his silly faces!   He was SO proud of his kids and grandkids!!

Frank married Evelyn McCormick on November 4, 2014.  Frank and Evelyn lived in Alabama, Wyoming and Ohio.  They traveled many places and got to see things he only dreamed of seeing!

Frank lived the last several years with his son Will and wife Jennie.  Will and Jennie took excellent care of Frank and he loved being with them and attending Bethel Temple FUPC in Borger where Will is the pastor.

Frank is survived by his wife Evelyn Shields of Defiance, Ohio, daughter Tammy (Mark) Murray of Spearman, son Will (Jennie) Shields of Borger Texas, grandsons Isaac (Jessica) Herndon of Spearman, Matt (Anne Marie) Diaz of Spearman, Dalton (Makena) Shields of Amarillo, granddaughters Lilly Shields of Amarillo, Jewel Ketterer of Oklahoma City, OK, Cheyenne (Michael) Dominguez of Borger and 9 great grandchildren.  Bonus daughter Liz Hartsell and Numerous others he adopted as his own along the way.

Brothers Jimmy (Karen) Shields Foley, Alabama, Herb(Teresa) Shields of Clarendon, Rob Shields (Patty) of Spearman, Sister Doris Breeden of Canyon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank was proceeded in death by his mother Dorothy Karns, dad Louis Karns, sister Juanita Einck, brother in law Bobby Breeden.

Although Frank’s last few months were a struggle, he never lost his smile, sense of humor (telling jokes and making silly faces.).  Most of all, he said the words “I love you “frequently.  He was welcomed into heaven on July 13, 2025 to be reunited with his loved ones which was something he was really anticipating!

Memorial service will be held at the Spearman Union Church on Thursday

July 17th at 1pm with Pastor Will Shields officiating.
