The Obituary

James William King II departed this life on March 24, 2022 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

James was born on May 16, 1945 in Steubenville, OH to the late James William King, Sr. and Clara King Taulton. Upon the passing of James Sr., the family relocated to Clairton, PA where he was introduced to his stepfather, the late Robert Taulton. Robert's common sense advice and wisdom stayed with James II all of his days.

Excelling both academically and athletically, James graduated from the Clairton High School.  James worked for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel in Steubenville and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, CT after graduating from Clairton High School.  James was drafted into the U.S. Army in May of 1968.  He served with distinction for two years in Vietnam where he earned several medals and commendations. 

After military service, he married the love of his life, Delores Jeter, of Weirton, WV in 1970.  His academic prowess would earn him admission to the University of Connecticut, where he studied Computer Science and Political Science.  He then worked as a Computer Programmer and Systems Analyst at Aetna Life & Casualty in Hartford, CT.  James and his family eventually returned to the Ohio Valley, where he began a 25 year career working in several areas of the Management Information Systems Department at Weirton Steel Corporation. He retired from ISG, formally Weirton Steel Corporation, and upon retirement, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, refurbishing classic cars, watching classic films, and always learning new things.

James was preceded in death by his brother, William King, and his sister, Margaret King Prescott.  James will be missed by a vast, loving family to include: five daughters, Carla Colbert, Lisa Mitchell, Sonya (Hubert) Chiles, Naomi King, and Nathalie (François) de Léséleuc, two sons, James William King III and Nathaniel King; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  Additionally, he is survived by five brothers, Andre (Cheryl) King, Robert (Jamina) King, Ronald (Linda) Taulton, Steven Taulton, and Anthony Taulton and five sisters, Loretta King, Noreen (Larry) Freeman, Velma Patterson-Jones, Lorraine (Denny) McDonald, and Charlene Seibles, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Calling Hours are Friday, April 1, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly 3000 Weir Avenue Weirton, WV 26062, with the funeral service to immediately follow at 1 p.m.  All floral arrangements and card acknowledgments should be sent to the church.  Please follow appropriate CDC Covid-19 protocols.

The interment will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 1158 Morgan Road Bridgeville, PA 15017 at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 4th, 2022.
